Profile:

The State Russian Museum is the world`s largest museum of Russian art. The collection of the Russian Museum numbers some 400,000 works and covers the entire history of Russian fine art from the tenth century to the present day. It reflects virtually every form and genre of art in Russia, including a unique collection of Old Russian icons. In 1998 the State Russian Museum celebrates its centenary jubilee. There will also be a series of books devoted to the collections and history of the Russian Museum.
The Russian Center of Museum pedagogic and Children’s creativity was set up in 1990 during the period of transformation of the State Russian museum into a unique museum and educational complex, including four palaces and a grammar school (The Gymnasium). The Center became the country’s first museum-pedagogical service, realizing its activities in correspondence with the concept of the pedagogical interaction of a museum and the educational system. The Center’s staff organizes and holds conferences, seminars and exhibitions of children’s works.
